Eileen Hull Creative Team Projects Reimagined!

19 Aug

The Creative Team theme for August is “Old Project/New Twist”. Designers are drawing inspiration from past projects and reimagining them in a new way! There has been quite a variety so far and we’re excited to see what’s up for this week…

Elizabeth Robinson revamped a Beach House journal she’d previously made and wasn’t happy with. It turned out wonderfully! Check her Instagram to see some flip throughs of the new and improved journal!

Tonya Trantham is sharing a colorful Garden & Seed journal made using the Handbound Journal Die. It is pretty and practical – she has spots to save seed packets and tuck receipts and notes away. You can find details and her tutorial here.

FLASHBACK PROJECTS!

Fall is on the way! Lisa Hoel has a cute decor piece to share made using Eileen’s Stacking Drawer Die. You can see all the details here.

Jenny Marples is sharing a vintage style travel trunk she created with the Treasure Box and Stacking Drawer Dies. Amazing!! See how she did it in this post.

News from Eileen Hull…

Hi friends – I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was spent cleaning and re-organizing with little breaks of crafting in between, while my husband was off on a canoe trip up in Maine. What a disaster! But things are getting put away, sorted and it should be somewhat back to normal by the time he gets home tonight 🙂

In today’s video, I’m cutting up something a little different — and I think you’re going to love the results!

Have you ever noticed the gorgeous artwork on vintage Reader’s Digest Condensed Books? I have one with a really pretty cover that I’ve been saving, just waiting for the right project. Well… today was the day! I figured out how to transform the book into a desk caddy using the Sizzix Handbound Journal and Stacking Drawers dies, and I’ll take you along as I share the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Reader’s Digest book. Head to your local thrift store and look for an old book with a pretty cover, an interesting embossed design, a great color—or even a title that has special meaning to you. The more unique, the better! So grab an old book and let’s give it a whole new life. I hope you’ll love this project as much as I do!

Last week we created a Commonplace Book on the live. This is a book to hold all of your current thoughts – art, sketching, quotes you want to remember, shopping lists, books to read, movies to watch. You can tear out articles from magazines and glue them in or doodle directly in the book. In other words – it’s a free for all – and I LOVE it! This is my kind of journaling. You can see what my book looks like HERE. I used the Journal die to make mine but use whatever you have, or even a pre-made book (but that’s no fun! :-))

Reflecting on 2021 – Favorite Projects Roundup

2 Dec

Gosh Golly, it’s December! How did that happen? This has definitely been a year of great Sizzix designs from Eileen Hull (and her new stamp line!!) She really knocked it out of the park with so many of them (it’s hard to pick favorites but the Folio Journal Die and 3-D Sweater Embossing Folder are at the top of my personal list.) Anyway, this month the Team designers are taking a look back over the year and doing favorite projects roundup posts. Let’s see what inspiration they have for us today!

Lisa Hoel started off with a cyberpunk ‘Robot’ Folio Journal make as a favorite project. You will have to head on over to her blog to see her other picks. 😉 She has linked to the original (extensive) tutorial blog posts as well so you will find plenty to browse.

I think Pam Bray had some trouble narrowing down her favorites from the year! No wonder, Pam created SO many beautiful and creative projects over the course of 2021. Pay her blog a visit to see her project lineup and get inspired by revisiting her makes.

Karen Bearse picked her top 3 with the help of her daughter. (It is hard to play favorites!) Karen’s marvelous mixed media style is on full display in these three favorite projects. She also has links to the project tutorials in her blog post so don’t miss out on seeing more photos and the techniques!

Summertime Fun, Crafting Style with Sizzix

9 Jun

For the month of June, the theme here on the blog is Summer Adventures! The Teams have been creatively cooking up summertime fun, crafting style using Eileen Hull’s Sizzix dies to great effect! Eileen’s dies are the perfect blank canvas to showcase your creativity and are so versatile. Let’s take a look at what the Inspiration Team has for us this week…

Julia Aston created a darling kids’ grab and go activity kit using the Folio Journal. So creative Julia! The Folio opens up to reveal treats and fun things to keep a kiddo busy with on the spot entertainment. The cheerful circus theme compliments the idea perfectly. See all the details in Julia’s blog post.

To me summer also means time in the garden and lots of flowers! Susie Bentz made a delightful card with summer colors and flower embellishments made with the Folio Page, Pocket & Flowers Die Set. Who wouldn’t love to get this in the mail? A tutorial and more photos await your viewing on Susie’s blog.

This year, summertime means travel time!

Maggi Harding is getting ready to embark on a motorhome adventure out west and made a travel journal to document the trip. She used the Journal XL Die and gorgeous Graphic 45 papers for its construction. (Did I mention I love those papers??) More photos and a video are on Maggi’s blog so don’t miss that!

One of the fun things about making a junk/travel journal is that you can also make all sorts of fun bits to go inside of it. Tonya Trantham created this absolutely fabulous project using a jumbo paperclip and Eileen’s 3-D Camper Trailer Die. This would be great to use in a journal, as a bookmark or to clip on just about anything! Tonya has a tutorial on her blog so head on over to check it out.

Eileen Hull’s Newest Sizzix Dies are Marching On…

4 Mar

Ha ha, see what I did there? Yes, it is MARCH, a new month! We are continuing to explore the possibilities with Eileen Hull’s newest Sizzix Chapter 1 Dies, the ScoreBoards Folio Journal Die, coordinating Folio Page, Pockets and Flower Thinlits set and the Mandala Thinlits die.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Ch-1-die-lineup-graphic-1024x359.jpg

I was going to tease you with hints of what Eileen’s Chapter 2 Die release is going to be, but the word has already gotten out in Fan Club! If you are in the Club you know what a great addition to the Folio Journal collection they are. 😉 (Chapter 2 Blog Hop Release Party will be April 1st, mark your calendars!) At any rate, let’s take a look at some more inspiring projects from the Team.

Karen Bearse has written up Part 1 of the tutorial for her mixed media junk journal she made for the Chapter 1 Blog Hop. Her colors and techniques are stunning and she has a great plan for this journal. Hop on over to her post to find out more about it.

Julia Aston is also sharing her Hop journal tutorial with us this week. She created a lovely nature journal using the Folio die. Check out that serene paper she used for the cover – it makes me want to go camping by a lake. The insides of the journal are equally lovely and Julia has some great ideas to make this a ‘working’ nature journal so you won’t want to miss her tutorial post with all the details.

Getting into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, Tonya Trantham is going green with a delightful double sided festive tag. She put the Folio Page, Pockets and Flower and Mandala Thinlits die sets to good use. Tonya is an expert at layering die cut and ephemera elements to achieve maximum shabby chic effect! See the whole tag and plenty of detail photos over on Tonya’s blog.
