Elizabeth Robinson rescued something from the recycle bin and turned it into a lovely piece of home decor! Some paint and diecuts from the Mandala Die really turned this from trash to treasure. See what she used and how she did it in her blog post.

More Unconventional Materials Bonus!

Jenny Marples has a bonus project she made that incorporates the Waterfall & Tags Die Set in an unconventional way. She used the Waterfall flap to cut pages to make a mini book all on its own! I say that is pretty clever! And of course it is full of collage-y mixed media goodness a-la Jenny. You will definitely want to check out her post to see it all and her directions.

Release Party Blog Hop for Sizzix Chapter 2!

It’s time to celebrate new dies & crafting possibilities!

Welcome to the Release Party Blog Hop for Chapter 2 Eileen Hull/Sizzix Dies!

Today we are sharing Folio Journal accessory dies – the Waterfall & Tags and Book Binding Thinlits dies. But don’t limit their use only to journals – they work really well on cards and layouts too! And because you can cut as many as you would like, you can add these elements to larger and smaller journals too.

In addition to the two Thinlits dies, there’s also the new Bigz L Camper 3-D ScoreBoards die just in time for summer travel! Cut two camper pieces and build it into a 3-D container (so much fun to decorate!) or use it on the front of the Folio Journal or card. As always, these dies are super versatile – just waiting for you to put your special touch on them and make them yours.

Fancy Folio Journals – Get Inspired!

Have we really reached the end of March? Wow! All month long the Inspiration and Educator Teams have been busily creating using Eileen’s latest Chapter 1 Sizzix Dies – the ScoreBoards Folio Journal Die, coordinating Folio Page, Pockets and Flower Thinlits set and the Mandala Thinlits die. We have some very fancy Folio journals to share with you this week so scroll on!

All I can say is, “Super chunky!!” to describe this fantastic Folio journal made by Jennie Atkinson. Gosh golly that is cool!! She made it to house some of her favorite ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) so appropriately she mounted an ATC on the cover and the spine as well. Her blog post is full of photos and a flip through video as well so check it out!

Sue Eldred’s fancy Folio journal is actually a clever holder for stationery. Wouldn’t this make a wonderful gift? (Mother’s Day is coming!) Her delightful Folio project says spring and is a great way to utilize a favorite patterned paper collection. After a long and laborious month sewing away, designer Lisa Hoel finished her embroidered stitchery kit Folio. The structure of the journal is actually fabric and ultra firm stabilizer and sewn together. Be sure to visit her blog to see all the detail photos and a tutorial. Take one look at Jenny Marples’ latest project and you are sure to say, “Wow!” You saw the beginnings of this epic Folio last month and Jenny is back with a look at the finished cover and part one of the inside pages. Designer Anna-Karin also worked her mixed media magic for her latest Folio Journal! Yummy texture and colors combine with the bling of foil to create a super cool journal. The floral element cut using the Folio Page, Pockets and Flower die set adds the perfect touch to the cover. Don’t miss Anna-Karin’s tutorial and give her techniques a try yourself.

Elizabeth Robinson created a delightfully stitchy Folio completely out of fabric scraps. I love it! Flowers, embroidery, batik fabrics – yes please Elizabeth, show us more. =) It is a cheerful and whimsical art journal to be sure and she shows you how to put one together yourself in her blog post.

Let’s not forget Easter is nearly here…

Tonya Trantham certainly hasn’t. She cleverly combined two of Eileen’s dies – the pocket from the Folio Page die set and the Teacup Die to create this darling bunny basket Easter decoration. I love the festive touches and I believe I spy some chocolate tucked away in the basket (well done Tonya). Find out how to make some of your own in Tonya’s blog post. I was going to tease you with hints of what Eileen’s Chapter 2 Die release is going to be, but the word has already gotten out in Fan Club! If you are in the Club you know what a great addition to the Folio Journal collection they are. 😉 (Chapter 2 Blog Hop Release Party will be April 1st, mark your calendars!) Julia Aston is also sharing her Hop journal tutorial with us this week. She created a lovely nature journal using the Folio die. Check out that serene paper she used for the cover – it makes me want to go camping by a lake. The insides of the journal are equally lovely and Julia has some great ideas to make this a ‘working’ nature journal so you won’t want to miss her tutorial post with all the details.

Getting into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit, Tonya Trantham is going green with a delightful double sided festive tag. She put the Folio Page, Pockets and Flower and Mandala Thinlits die sets to good use. Tonya is an expert at layering die cut and ephemera elements to achieve maximum shabby chic effect!
