Old Project, New Twist August Wrap Up with Eileen Hull

27 Aug

The Creative Team designers have really been having fun this month with the theme “Old Project/New Twist”. Designers have drawn inspiration from past projects and reinvented them in a new way. Let’s take a look at the final August project!

Lisa Hoel had started a Wonder Woman themed junk journal years ago using the original Sizzix Journal as the base. She didn’t get very far and this month decided to make a new larger (and finished) one using the Full Size Journal. You can see the whole result here!

The Library Pocket, ATC Card & Tab Die Set is perfect for use in junk journals.

Lisa likes to use the Tiled Alphanumeric Die to make bold backgrounds.

FLASHBACK PROJECTS!

Jenny Marples has these beautiful ocean themed candy containers made using Eileen’s Stacking Drawer Die. You can find all the instructions and more photos here.

They look like wood!

Lisa Hoel created an unusual journal that has a “snippet roll” inside. The base is Eileen’s Handbound Journal and it also showcases the Journal Hardware Die. See all the details in this post.

The inside is full of snippets of embossed paper, lace etc. Postage stamps cut using dies like the Faux Postage and Snail Mail sets make great little bits to include as well.

News from Eileen…

I hope you all had a great weekend. It’s hard to believe we are in the last full week of August and I’m wondering where the summer went. On the other hand, I’m also looking forward to the fall and cooler weather. 🙂

On last week’s live, we made a Reader’s Digest Desk Caddy and I am loving mine! We transformed a vintage book into a desk caddy using the Sizzix Handbound Journal and Stacking Drawers dies – I would love to make a stack of these.

Tuesday Live!

Join Margaret and I for another episode of One Die Two Ways where we spotlight a previously released die and show you new ways to use it! Today we are looking at the Faux Postage Thinlits die – cut from patterned paper, watercolor paper or cardstock to create a postal pane. I hope you can join us for a look at this die…

Eileen Hull Fan Club ATC Swap!

We are doing an ATC SWAP! The swap will begin on September 1.

An artist trading card (ATC) is a tiny piece of original art. It measures strictly 2.5 by 3.5 inches, the exact same size as a standard baseball or trading card. Artists make these small cards to trade or give away for free, rather than to sell.

Here are the guidelines:

  • Size: Must be 2.5 x 3.5 inches to fit standard card collector sheets and sleeves. Each card should have an Eileen Hull product as a focus.
  • Back Details: Please include on the back of the card: your name, date, event, number in series
  • Mediums: Creators use any material they like, including paint, collage, drawing, markers, fabric, and mixed media.
  • Shipping: this ATC can be sent in a standard envelope with regular postage. As long as it weighs less than an ounce, the cost to ship is the price of an .82 stamp. For reasons of economy and time, the swap will pair US with US and international with international.
  • Timeline: Registration opens September 1 and goes till September 10. On September 12, you will receive the name of your swap buddy. You will have until September 29 to mail out your swap.

Eileen Hull Creative Team Projects Reimagined!

19 Aug

The Creative Team theme for August is “Old Project/New Twist”. Designers are drawing inspiration from past projects and reimagining them in a new way! There has been quite a variety so far and we’re excited to see what’s up for this week…

Elizabeth Robinson revamped a Beach House journal she’d previously made and wasn’t happy with. It turned out wonderfully! Check her Instagram to see some flip throughs of the new and improved journal!

Tonya Trantham is sharing a colorful Garden & Seed journal made using the Handbound Journal Die. It is pretty and practical – she has spots to save seed packets and tuck receipts and notes away. You can find details and her tutorial here.

FLASHBACK PROJECTS!

Fall is on the way! Lisa Hoel has a cute decor piece to share made using Eileen’s Stacking Drawer Die. You can see all the details here.

Jenny Marples is sharing a vintage style travel trunk she created with the Treasure Box and Stacking Drawer Dies. Amazing!! See how she did it in this post.

News from Eileen Hull…

Hi friends – I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was spent cleaning and re-organizing with little breaks of crafting in between, while my husband was off on a canoe trip up in Maine. What a disaster! But things are getting put away, sorted and it should be somewhat back to normal by the time he gets home tonight 🙂

In today’s video, I’m cutting up something a little different — and I think you’re going to love the results!

Have you ever noticed the gorgeous artwork on vintage Reader’s Digest Condensed Books? I have one with a really pretty cover that I’ve been saving, just waiting for the right project. Well… today was the day! I figured out how to transform the book into a desk caddy using the Sizzix Handbound Journal and Stacking Drawers dies, and I’ll take you along as I share the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. Don’t worry if you don’t have a Reader’s Digest book. Head to your local thrift store and look for an old book with a pretty cover, an interesting embossed design, a great color—or even a title that has special meaning to you. The more unique, the better! So grab an old book and let’s give it a whole new life. I hope you’ll love this project as much as I do!

Last week we created a Commonplace Book on the live. This is a book to hold all of your current thoughts – art, sketching, quotes you want to remember, shopping lists, books to read, movies to watch. You can tear out articles from magazines and glue them in or doodle directly in the book. In other words – it’s a free for all – and I LOVE it! This is my kind of journaling. You can see what my book looks like HERE. I used the Journal die to make mine but use whatever you have, or even a pre-made book (but that’s no fun! :-))

28 Jul

The Creative Team July project theme was “Summer Vibes”. It’s been a month full of inspiration and this week is our summer project wrap up. Check out the inspiration and the July round up video!

Lisa Hoel finished her Yellowstone National Park vacation journal. Whew! She used the Full Size Journal Die for the base and filled it with photos, postcards, ephemera and of course used many of Eileen’s other die sets and stamps. You can find all the project photos here.

Flashback Summer Projects!

Jenny Marples has a rustic summer sea project she made with the Stacking Drawers Die. These delightful little boxes can hold candies or other treats. Wouldn’t they make wonderful party favors? Find the tutorial here.

Designer Jennie Atkinson is sharing a beautiful floral flashback project – a Tea Cup flower journal. Fabulous! Find all the details here.

Nothing says summer like sunflowers! Lisa Hoel made a summery accordion album to fit inside of a case made with the Skinny Mini Book Box Die (also the Mini Slimline & Tickets Die Set). Find all the details here.

Summer Vibes Wrap Up!

News from Eileen Hull…

I hope your summers are going well! The heat has eased off a little here in Virginia, thankfully.

I want to thank you for your patience, support, encouragement and having my back over the past few months. My family and I have have been through several surgeries, my husband’s retirement, a trailer renovation and other events/situations that I needed to deal with. All of those things are/were important.

For the past four years I have been going live twice a week. I cut the Thursday one and now go live on Tuesdays at 4:00 Eastern and I welcome you to join us! I also want to thank all of you have been following my health issues and sharing your experiences too. It makes things less scary when you know that others have been through it also.

So after taking the time off, I am ready to get back into it 😍. I have a new product coming out that I am very excited about and I can tell you more about that soon!

Today Margaret and I are going live using the Stitched Hearts die. Margaret has some great ideas up her sleeve and I have some things to try too so gather your supplies and create along with us! And if you make something, we would love to see it posted in the Eileen Hull Fan Club .

I am starting to gear up for the Garlic Festival in Saugerties, N.Y. coming up in September. Can I ask – when you go to an event like this, what are you looking for? Christmas presents? Everyday gifts? Things for you? Clothing or handmade accessories? Jewelry? I’d like to hear from you!

March in Miniature Wrap Up & Eileen Hull News

1 Apr

The theme for this month was “March in Miniature”! Our designers interpreted it in so many different ways and it was interesting to see all the inspiration. We have a few flashback projects for a final look and the round up video from the whole month so scroll on…

Sue Eldred created this beautiful little mini spring basket using Eileen’s Needle Book, Journal Hardware and Painterly Blooms & Backgrounds dies. So sweet! Check out her tutorial here.

Lisa Hoel has an out of this world flashback mini project to share. She created a “space adventure in a box”. Using the Treasure Box and Stacking Drawer dies to create the main structure, it opens to reveal an alien landscape. Check out her post for all the details.

Jenny Marples also has this fabulous flashback Mini Book Die project to inspire you. (That stunning cover is made using the 3-D Lace Embossing Folder.) Get more details in her post.

Don’t miss the round up video…

What’s Eileen up to?

Hi friends – I’m back from BellaCon and it was AMAZING! Thanks to all who joined us and I hope you had as much fun as we did. Many thanks to my friends Ann and Lisa from Bella Crafts Publishing for letting me be part of it.

My bags are unpacked and I am back at work 🙂 Today I am making a leather Journal and trying out some gorgeous leather paint I found in Curacao. I will use it to keep track of my new little trailer Daisy and all our adventures together. I hope you can join me!

At this point Daisy is totally stripped down and my husband is installing the wiring so there is lighting, a place to charge devices and craft. I am supposed to leave in a month though! Getting a little nervous here…

Thanks to those who have responded to my  special announcement last week about being featured as a Guest Designer with EH products. If you haven’t decided yet, don’t feel intimidated – you all inspire me every day with what you are creating! We have such a supportive community and would love a peek of what you are doing in your artistic journey. Here’s a little more info for you – I hope to hear from you!

Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Merry Christmas with Eileen Hull’s Sizzix Dies

24 Dec

Merry Christmas to you all! This month the Inspiration Team designers are picking their three favorite projects from the year and sharing them with all you Eileen fans. We have a few more to share this week:

Lisa Hoel had a hard time picking out only three projects! Mixed media is one of her favorite modes to work in and it shows in her makes. Visit her blog to see the details.

Elizabeth Robinson has fab set of projects for her favorites too. So lovely! She also has a blog post round up of all three so you can get a closer look. Head on over!

Merry Christmas from Eileen:

Hi friends –  I’m back from NY visiting with Mom and my sister. We had a good visit and got lots done.  Mom is doing great – I could not help but think of how she was a year ago – bedridden and on hospice. Now she is up and walking – doing puzzles, knitting, reading and part of the world again. My mother is one amazing lady!

I have a really fun project today and hope you can join me. We are creating a box of cards using the Skinny Mini Book Box die – you can find it HERE! I found a cool tool and will be using it with my gel plate to create some really pretty prints! Hope you can join me, but if not, I get it – It’s Christmas Eve! In that case, I hope you will catch me on replay.

I want to thank you all for your support and your friendship. I am so blessed to know all of you fantastic people! Also, so many thanks for our amazing and talented team who are constantly dreaming up fabulous projects and ideas to inspire us all. Sending my wishes for a happy holidays to all!

2025 is coming soon. Any ideas for things you would like to see happening in the group? Let us know in the Eileen Hull Fan Club!

Bonus Christmas projects for your inspiration!

Tonya Trantham has another bonus Christmas card to share. Using Eileen’s Plate & Pattern Layered Stencil Set and the Wreath & Snowflake Thinlits Die Set, she made this beautiful card.

We also have an extra Christmas project from Pam Bray for you too! She used the Card Caddy Die to make this festive holder for a pack of Christmas napkins. (Looks like a perfect hostess gift to me!) It would also be great for holding cookies or candy. You can find more details in her post.
