Travel Memories with Eileen Hull’s Dies

6 Jul

Happy July Eileen Hull fans! This month the creative theme is “Travel Memories”. How do you like to preserve the memories of your trips and travels? Here we like to use Eileen Hull’s dies and stamps of course! Her various journal dies are perfect for making albums. Over the course of the month, I’m sure we’ll see other very creative ways to document those travel memories too. Let’s jump into this week’s inspiration…

Pam Bray used Eileen’s Full Size Journal Die and a patterned paper collection to create a gorgeous album! It is full of pockets, flaps and other fun elements – plus places ready to add those travel memories. Pay her blog a visit to see all the photos and a video of the fab insides.

Designer Sarah Lizzie used the Passport Book Die, an old favorite, to create this cute little travel book. It may be small, but you can pack a lot of memories into it! Check out her blog for a step by step tutorial.

Creative Materials + Sizzix Dies!

12 May

We kicked off May last week with our new theme of using unconventional and creative materials with Eileen’s Sizzix dies. The Team shared some really interesting projects with us and the fun continues this week! Let’s take a look at their creative makes…

Susie Bentz really thought outside of the box with her Harry Potter Monster Book of Monsters ornament. WOW! Fake fur, plastic vampire teeth and eyes are definitely unconventional. What a sensational result! Visit Susie’s blog to see the tutorial with her tips and tricks.

Designer Jenny Marples shares a way to use wooden coffee stirrers to create a flexible journal spine. I think this would be a great technique to take note of and use in your own projects! Of course the journal she created is in the lovely Jenny mixed media style and full of wonderful colors and textures. Head on over to her blog tutorial and see how she constructed it! She also has a post on the PaperArtsy blog showing how she decorated the inside pages so don’t miss that either.

Recycling used packaging materials is a great way to “craft green”! Maggi Harding embossed the plastic from some packaging to use for the cover of her Passport Book journal. I think you would agree that you’d never guess she used “trash” to create this beautiful cover. Maggi has the directions and photos of the equally wonderful inside pages on her blog so check it out!

Pam Bray created a gorgeous Folio Journal with rice paper! She also used the rice paper to make flower embellishments – the lightweight paper is perfect for full and textural blooms. Her step by step photos and instructions can be found on her blog.

June Journals and Belagio Cork Fabric

10 Jun

We are continuing our month of June Journals and the collaboration with Belagio to use their unique, versatile cork fabric. The team is really enjoying working with it! Durable and user friendly, the fabric can be easily die cut, sewn by machine, combined with fabric, paper or pretty much any substrate you can think of. Thin sheets of real cork are laminated to a fabric backing so it is very flexible and durable. It’s perfect for covering three dimensional projects like boxes, books, and home decor pieces. Additionally, you can also use it to create 3D flowers and other embellishments… Living up to the Belagio motto: You are only limited by your imagination – this fabric will expand your creative possibilities!

So, what does the team have for us today?

Why another quartet of fabulous journals for you to feast your eyes upon! Take a look at this beautiful Pocket Notebook journal made by Maggi Harding. The elegance of the cork fabric really shines through. The insides of the journal are elaborately embellished so you won’t want to miss the video flip through on Maggi’s blog post.

Created using the Passport Book Die, Lisa Hoel’s sweet little firefly journal is a gift for a new baby in the family. It will be a special place to record all of the baby’s firsts and new family memories made. As part of the design, Lisa layered different patterns of the cork fabric and can attest that it does indeed die cut and stitch up wonderfully. See her blog for the full tutorial and more photos.

Susie Bentz’s project this month shows how metallic accents really add elegance to anything. The simplest details pull it all together! Her Tiny Book and Book Case combo is gorgeous and her closure technique is easy and clever. All the details are on her blog!

Julia Aston is spreading birthday love with her pair of twin Notebooks for a pair of twins just turning 17! What a special gift and I love how she colored in parts of the design on the cork fabric. Travel over to her blog to find out all the details.
