Save Your Trip Memories Using Eileen Hull’s Dies

20 Jul

How do you like to save your trip memories? Eileen Hull’s dies and stamps are perfect for documenting your vacations and travels! Her various journal dies are great for making little albums for a start. Of course, you can go beyond albums and make home decor pieces too and Eileen’s dies are also well suited for that. Let’s see what the Inspiration Team has for us this week!

Elizabeth Robinson created a summer treats journal using the Folio Journal Die. I think Elizabeth and I have similar tastes when it comes to summer treats. (Hello ice cream.) You’ll have to go visit her blog to see what is inside!

Designer Pam Bray shared a fab Full Size Journal with us at the beginning of the month. This week she’s back with a look at some of the ‘inside parts’. These matching cards are made to fit inside the journal. Get a closer look on her blog!

Tonya Trantham is planning ahead and created a journal for her upcoming beach vacation. She also used the Folio Journal Die as the base and filled it full of beachy goodness. Check it out on her blog.

More Travel Memories inspiration next week!

Preserving Travel Memories with Eileen Hull’s Dies

13 Jul

How do you like to document the memories of your trips and holidays? Not surprisingly, we like to use Eileen Hull’s dies and stamps of course! Her various journal dies are perfect for making little albums. This week we have two designers from the Team sharing their inspiration for preserving travel memories. Let’s see what they have for us…

Jennie Atkinson has been on some fun trips with her old school chums and she created a fabulous shabby chic box in which to store the ephemera and mementos. It’s made from the Book Box Die and it’s full of folders to organize everything. I love that vintage vibe! Find more photos and a tutorial video on Jennie’s blog.

Designer Susie Bentz wanted to have her travel memories on display so she reached for the Shadow Box Frame Dies to create these decor pieces. This is such a versatile idea! Adapt it to preserve the memories for any event or trip! Find all the details and instructions in Susie’s blog post.

Travel Memories with Eileen Hull’s Dies

6 Jul

Happy July Eileen Hull fans! This month the creative theme is “Travel Memories”. How do you like to preserve the memories of your trips and travels? Here we like to use Eileen Hull’s dies and stamps of course! Her various journal dies are perfect for making albums. Over the course of the month, I’m sure we’ll see other very creative ways to document those travel memories too. Let’s jump into this week’s inspiration…

Pam Bray used Eileen’s Full Size Journal Die and a patterned paper collection to create a gorgeous album! It is full of pockets, flaps and other fun elements – plus places ready to add those travel memories. Pay her blog a visit to see all the photos and a video of the fab insides.

Designer Sarah Lizzie used the Passport Book Die, an old favorite, to create this cute little travel book. It may be small, but you can pack a lot of memories into it! Check out her blog for a step by step tutorial.

Fourth of July Centerpiece with K & S Metals

27 Jun

Today I am excited to share a new product that I spotted at NAMTA- aluminum sheets by K&S Precision Metals!

Aluminum sheets

The aluminum sheets come in rolls measuring 12″ x 24″. The aluminum is thick and holds the shape really well while still being flexible. I was sent five rolls of different colored metals to create with!

This event is put on by the Designer Craft Connection and Bella Crafts Publishing. Keep your eyes out because I will be sharing a project in the next issue of the free e-magazine 🙂

If you visit this post, you will see lots of other amazing projects to inspire you. And you will want to order some of this cool product!

I couldn’t wait to see how the metal worked with my Sizzix 3D Embossing Folders! I decided to create a centerpiece for the table. We will be on vacation for the Fourth of July so I wanted something light and easy to transport.

  • emb-can-1

I love how this came out and it was so easy to do!

Supply List

  • K &S Precision Metals- blue
  • die cutting machine, platform and cutting pads
  • Crochet Mandala 3D embossing folder by Eileen Hull
  • Sizzix Luster Wax- silver
  • Easy Cut Adhesive by Eileen Hull
  • recycled soup can
  • scissors for cutting metal

First, I cut a piece of metal large enough to encircle the can and covered it with Easy Cut Adhesive. Then I placed the metal in the embossing folder and ran it through the machine. I lined up the pattern on the folder so that it matched up with the other side and ran it through the Big Shot again. Then I peeled off the adhesive and stuck it to the sides of the aluminum can, making sure to keep it straight. In addition, I added glue to the edges of the metal where they met so that they stayed in place. With my finger, I applied Silver Luster Wax to the raised areas of the embossed pattern.

Here’s a quick video showing how I put it together…

Then I added coffee filter flowers and leaves to the can, along with two flags! What a fun and easy centerpiece. When the party is over, use it to hold pens and pencils on your desk!

Now make sure to go and visit the Designer Crafts Connection blog and click on all of the projects for lots of inspiration!

Using Up Leftovers with Eileen Hull’s Dies

23 Jun

In June we are using up our leftovers! We’ve all got them – those little bits and pieces which we can’t bear to part with, the last of a pack of paper, bits of stamping, collected items for recycling… you get the idea! This month you’ve seen the Teams creating with leftovers in projects using Eileen’s dies. Get your own scraps out and make something along with us. Be sure to show us in the Fan Club!

Designer Sarah Lizzie created an absolutely super cute Tiny Book using papers from her scrap stash. I love it! It does make me happy! Check out the details on her blog.

Lisa Hoel gathered a huge pile of scraps and extras to create a junk journal using the Folio Journal Die. Junk journals are a great way for using up leftovers! See all the photos and find out more in Lisa’s blog post.

Rummaging in her extra die cuts container rewarded Madeline Arendt with all the pieces needed for a 3-D Truck and Camper project. With the 4th of July just a few weeks away, she decided to make a themed decor piece. Bravo! See all the details on her blog.

Bonus project!

Tonya Trantham has been a very busy bee and has another extra project to share with us for your inspiration! She used the Shadowbox Frame die (what???) to make this little mini house shaped album. Shut the front door! (Seriously, the flies will get in otherwise. ha ha) So clever! Find out the how-to on her blog.

Scrap Hoarding? – Use Them with Eileen Hull’s Dies!

16 Jun

Are you scrap hoarding? We’ve all got them – those little bits and pieces which we can’t bear to part with, the last of a pack of paper, bits of stamping, collected items for recycling… you get the idea! This month you are going to see the Teams creating with leftovers in projects using Eileen’s dies. Get your own scraps out and make something along with us. Be sure to show us in the Fan Club!

Elizabeth Robinson raided her stash of bits and bobs to create some lovely journal embellishments. This is a great idea! Now she has them ready to go to add to an upcoming journal project. So if you don’t have time for an involved make, you can always make quickie embellishment pieces for the future. Visit her blog post for a closer look.

Designer Jenny Marples had a similar idea to Elizabeth. Utilizing her ample scrap hoard, she created collage postcards and envelopes to use in other projects. Mixed media magic strikes again! I really love these postcards and can’t wait to see how Jenny uses them. See the tutorial on her blog!

Tonya Trantham has a hinged Book Box creation to share with us. She cleverly cut down the hinge piece so she could make the box open from a horizontal orientation instead of vertical. Her layered embellishments on the top are delightful as well. Find the scoop on her blog!
