Creating with Leftovers! Inspiration with Eileen Hull’s Sizzix Dies

We’ve all got them – a box or drawer of leftovers. Those little bits and pieces which we can’t bear to part with, the last of a pack of paper, bits of stamping, collected items for recycling… you get the idea! This month you are going to see the Teams creating with leftovers in projects using Eileen’s dies. Get your own scraps out and make something along with us. Go get crafty!

Jennie Atkinson used the very last bits of a favorite Stamperia paper collection to make a small book with envelope. She made good use of those scraps using Eileen’s Card, Waterfall & Tags Die Set and others. See how Jennie put it all together and all the beautiful detail photos on her blog!

The Snail Mail Thinlits Die is a favorite of designer Susie Bentz and she experimented with cutting all sorts of materials with it. You know what that means… leftovers! She created three different cards to share with us. What a great idea – create a card stash with leftovers that would otherwise just sit in a box. See everything she made over on her blog.

Gel Press Collaboration with Eileen Hull

Eileen Hull dies and Gel Press are a match made in heaven! The Gel Press collaboration has been going on all month and the projects have been truly inspiring! You can find the past blog posts here, here and here. Also check out the Gel Press YouTube channel to see what cool stuff they are doing with Eileen’s journal bases and to find scores of tutorial videos. Gel Press printing is a whole lotta fun! Add in Eileen’s versatile dies and a whole new world of creativity opens up. This is the last week for our official collaboration but I think our love affair with gel printing will continue on.

This week the Educator Team is up to bat! Jennie Atkinson is tantalizing us with a few sneak peeks of collaboration projects made using Eileen’s new Chapter 1 dies about to be released on Feb. 1st. So tempting! I can’t wait to see the whole projects – they look wonderful.

Getting busy with her Gel Press plate, Madeline Arendt experimented with printing on fabric. I think she was very successful, just look at the beautiful results! Sue Eldred also had fun experimenting with creating backgrounds with her Gel Press. She tried using die cuts as masks and had great success with this technique. There really is no end to the creative results you can achieve with gel printing! In her blog post you can see her process and the great projects she made from her prints (like this Tiny Book):

If you want more inspiration on making trucks you are in luck! If you haven’t heard, Eileen is having a Tailgate Party. Details from Eileen as follows: 

Don’t miss the Tailgate Party!

This event will stream to EHD Facebook page and YouTube channel on Wednesday, November 10 at 9:00 Pac/12:00 ET/5:00 UK. In attendance will be 3 retailers and 6 Sizzix employees from US and UK and Eileen. Therefore, you will see 10 people creating at one time because they will each be creating their version of the Vintage Truck on the Streamyard platform. You, the viewer, will be invited to craft along and there will be prizes! After the event, post a truck and use the hashtag #eileenstailgateparty; you will be entered to win the grand prize. It is going to be amazing! 

For our next crafty creation we have a ‘feeling fall-ish’ birthday card made by Lisa Hoel. She used various flower/leaf dies and embossed the bottom flower layer with Eileen’s fab 3-D Sweater Embossing Folder! Eileen’s  Snail Mail Everyday Sentiments stamp set makes an appearance as well. Pam Bray created a lovely home decor piece featuring Eileen’s Heart Mandala and 3-D Camper Dies. She is maintaining that in many parts of the world, this season is in fact rather summery feeling. Inspiration Overload with Chapter 4 Dies!

Did I say that last week we had a truckload of projects for you? I should have saved that for this week! Oh my. Get a beverage and get comfy because we have complete inspiration overload coming right up with both the Inspiration and Educator Teams…

Here’s what Eileen has to say about her newly released dies,
“The Chapter 4 Sizzix Release is exciting for so many reasons – there are two never-done-before designs! One is the Full Size Journal which is a Bigz Pro size – you will need a machine with at least a 9″ throat to cut this die – like a Big Shot Plus or Pro. Not to worry, if you don’t have that machine, Eileen will have the pre-cut pieces available in her Etsy store for you to work with. The other new technology is a 3-D Embossing Folder! It’s called Sweater and is oh so cozy. Also new this release is a Bigz Notepad Die with lots of options for materials and uses, and a Heart Mandala Thinlits Die to decorate with!”
