Summer Fun and an Eileen Hull Craft Along

16 Jun

Hello Eileen Hull fans! June is all about projects that show summer fun plus a chance to have some creative fun with a Craft Along Eileen did on her Facebook page. Eileen’s Sizzix dies are tops for versatility and will make your own projects shine. Let’s take a look at what the Inspiration Team has for us this week. More info about the Craft Along follows!

Designer Jenny Marples created a summer fun card that will make you want to hit the road for camping adventures! She used the 3-D Camper Die (yes, 3-D can also mean 2-D!) plus Flower and Leaf dies to compose this refreshing scene. I love how she used gel plate prints for the card parts – it adds a lovely visual texture and interest to the card. You can find more info on Jenny’s blog post!

Inspired by the sea, Lisa Hoel used the Folio Journal Die to make a stationery folder and filled it with matching cards and envelopes. This would make a great gift and could easily be adapted to any theme! More photos and info can be found on Lisa’s blog so head on over to take a peek.

Summer Fun Craft Along with Eileen…

Recently, Eileen did a Facebook Live Craft Along that was a lot of fun! She showed us how to make an interactive 4” x 6” folder from one sheet of 12” x 12” paper that fits in the Sizzix Pocket Notebook. I know I might have a few extra sheets of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper laying around (ha ha ha). You can still join in with the replay to learn how to make one as well!

Love all those tuck spots!
It opens out to reveal all this!

Isn’t that fun? You can see a little video of it in action here. If you’d like to gather all your supplies so you can craft along with Eileen, here is what you will need:

  • 4-5 coordinating 12″ x 12″ double sided papers – save one full sheet of paper for the base and use the rest for the pieces. Paper pads work great for this! It fits in the Pocket Notebook Die.

    Waterfall & Tags die
  • 10 Waterfall pieces (the one with the score line)
  • 4 Waterfall mat rectangle pieces
  • 2 scalloped border pieces
  • 6 small tags
  • 2 medium tags
  • 2 large tags
  • 10 tag reinforcements

Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers die
  • 7 round pockets (without tabs) from the Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers die from random designs
  • 4″ x 6″ coordinating paper scrap for middle section
  • Inks – if you want to distress edges, you can do that before we start
  • Glue
  • Seam Binding to tie up
  • Craft knife and self healing mat
  • Scoreboard and bone folder

Head on over to Facebook when you are ready and watch the video on replay!

Crafting Paper Flowers All May Long

27 May

May has been a blooming month full of crafty paper flower creations from the Inspiration Team. Hopefully the spring season has been uplifting and inspiring for you! We are wrapping up the month with another dose of botanical bounty.

First up we have a beautiful Trinket Box created by Maggi Harding. It makes me want to go to a garden party! I love the floral patterned paper and the die cut flowers decorating the box. Maggi shows how to put this all together on her blog so take a look.

Elizabeth Ronbinson was inspired by the Stitched Felt Wallet project Eileen taught in the recent Beach House Art Retreat and kept on stitching! She created a cute felt heart tag with flowers for a pencil case she has. Eileen’s dies cute felt easily and they are a perfect adornment for all sorts of projects. Follow Elizabeth’s lead and see more in her blog post.

Next we have a colorfully coordinated Notebook from Pam Bray to feast our eyes upon. Wouldn’t this make a great gift for a friend or loved one? The pink and black color scheme is quite striking. Check out Pam’s blog post to find out her quick and easy hack for making the insides of this notebook.

Jenny Marples has two projects to share with us! The first is floral Notebook with coordinating interior. Jenny shows us in a tutorial how to alter the standard Notebook die cut for an alternate way of creating the cover. She also tells you how to created a matching tassel using one of Eileen’s tools.

Like Elizabeth Robinson, Jenny also participated in the Beach House Art Retreat and got stitchy with her felt wallet:

I love how those colors pop on the grey felt. Eileen showed us some really great embroidery stitches and ways to approach projects like this.

You can still join…

It’s not too late to still catch the fun of the Beach House Art Retreat! The retreat itself happened last Saturday but the private Facebook group is live and all the videos and content are still available. Participants are still chatting and posting their projects! There were three different projects to create and you will learn new techniques and ways to use your dies. You can purchase access to the videos and content by going to Eileen’s etsy shop, here.

We are collaborating with an exciting company for the month of June so be sure to stop by next week to see…

Thanks for stopping by to pay a visit! Don’t forget to consider purchasing Eileen’s Pocket Notebooks e-book, you won’t be sorry. 😉 It will surely spark ideas for your own journal creations. Also, if you’ve missed any of the other May posts, you can find them here, here and here.

House of Joy

11 Dec
Last weekend, Pam Keravuori and I taught a class at Angela’s Happy Stamper– it was so much fun!  Pam taught us how to create cool doodling using our own handwriting. I was so excited to learn great tips from Pam as she is an amazing lettering artist.

We used my ScoreBoard House die as a base. Some people painted theirs first, others wanted to keep it plain and ink later. Then we had our fun doodle session and practiced our technique- then finally, the scary part, actually transferring the lettering to the house 🙂 Everyone did a great job- here are some pics from class.

We had requests for another class so after the holidays and CHA, Pam and I will be putting our heads together and coming up with a new project for you!

A Cut Above class

19 Apr
When I saw there was a die cutting class being offered by Jennifer McGuire, Nicole Magouirk, and Kristina Werner, I had to sign up. They are such amazing designers- I knew I would pick up lots of helpful tips and tricks. So far it has been fun and I’m trying to keep up (kind of) with the lessons and do a project that has been shown that day. That is why I am posting two days in a row- shocking, I know…

On this card, the idea was to use cut out shapes. I am ashamed to say I had a set of Framelits from a 2 CHA’s ago that I had never used. So I cracked those babies open and had some fun.
  1. First I folded a card base made from my favorite Cougar 100 lb white cardstock. I ran it through the Big Shot using my Wreath Textured Impression folder (now available at your LSS!). I used a Robin’s Egg Color Box pigment pad and brayer to get a good overall coat of ink on one side of the folder. I folded over the other side and ran it through using the Multi-purpose Platform.
  2. I cut several Framelit openings- one circle in the center of the card and a larger frame from a piece of aqua. I added the aqua cutout behind the card.
  3. Then I cut a white butterfly from the Birds and Butterflies Sizzlit set, flared the wings out a little and put a line of adhesive down the middle of the butterfly and centered it in the middle of the card.
  4. For the sentiment, I used the Daisies2Garden stamp set from The Stamps of Life. Inside it says… “a happy birthday”. You can always use a birthday card! I raised the inside of the sentiment on foam dots.
  5. I also used my Hydrangeas & Border die to add an aqua, white and aqua chevron pattern under the sentiment.

Let’s see how long I can keep the streak going… 🙂
