Epic Christmas in July Post!

Is it really the end of July? We’ve been keeping cool all month with lots of fantastic makes using Eileen Hull’s newest Sizzix dies, the Snowman and Mitten Box. Today we’re going to wrap it up with an epic Christmas in July post full of festive projects!

Get comfy and grab a beverage…

because there are so many to share! First up we have Elizabeth Robinson’s clever creation using the Snowman Die – she used it to make a holder for her glasses! I love it! It’s a great landing spot for things that get easily mislaid. You could use something like this for your phone or car keys too. Elizabeth shares the details of her Snowman Die hack on her blog.

Tonya Trantham used the Snowman Die plus past Eileen dies to create a fabulous mini Christmas journal. Inside is full of flaps, tuck spots and all sorts of darling bits and bobs. You must head over to her blog post and see all the detail photos of the inside pages. You won’t be sorry!

Mixed media magic is once again offered up by Karen Bearse in her full tutorial on how to create this fun Mitten tag. It would be fabulous as a Christmas ornament or gift tag (especially for an owl lover!) Paint, ink, embossing, this tag has it all.

Jenny also just posted this brand new project – a Snowman accordion book. She used gel plate prints to good effect for the inner pages. Check out her tutorial for all her tricks and tips! I love all the textures and colors she achieved in this darling little book.

Last but not least Julia Aston has a cute cork fabric journal to share with us. In June we had a collaboration with Belagio to use their awesome cork fabric (check out the weekly June posts to see if you missed it). Julia used it to make a little snowman journal. Cork Fabric Journal Creations!

Yes, MORE cork fabric June Journal creations are here and the collaboration with Belagio continues! The team is really enjoying creating with the Belagio Cork Fabric. Durable and user friendly, the fabric can be easily die cut, sewn by machine, combined with fabric, paper or pretty much any substrate you can think of. Tonya Trantham has also created a gorgeous Notebook Die project for us to enjoy. She added heavy gel through a stencil to add texture to the cover. You can still see the cork fabric through the gel however and it’s such a lovely effect! See more photos and details on her blog.

Do you ever lose things in the shuffle on your desk? Elizabeth Robinson had that problem with a little notebook she keeps for jotting ideas. She cleverly solved the issue by making a snazzy cover for it using the Pocket Notebook and Trinket Box Dies. I think you’ll agree that it’s a stand out! See her blog post for all the details.

Anna-Karin Evaldsson hasn’t been able to receive international mail because of the slow downs so she didn’t get her Cork Fabric samples in time. Being a very resourceful person however, she created a delightful Tiny Book with some sheets of regular cork from her stash. Check out the tutorial on her blog!

Lisa Hoel was inspired by the animal print cork fabric and some cute printed fabric in her stash to create this jungle themed Wrapped Journal. Where can you find Belagio cork fabric?

– Hobby Lobby carries packaged cork in 18″ x 15″ pieces in 9 different patterns in the notions department.
– Two types, a natural and a natural with gold, are sold by the yard at Walmart stores that have fabric departments.
– As for the entire collection, many quilt and craft shops around the country carry it by the yard and in packaged 18″ x 15″ pieces.
– Online the Belagio cork fabric is available on Walmart.com and Amazon.com.

Crafting Paper Flowers All May Long

May has been a blooming month full of crafty paper flower creations from the Inspiration Team. Hopefully the spring season has been uplifting and inspiring for you! We are wrapping up the month with another dose of botanical bounty.

First up we have a beautiful Trinket Box created by Maggi Harding. It makes me want to go to a garden party! I love the floral patterned paper and the die cut flowers decorating the box. Maggi shows how to put this all together on her blog so take a look.

Elizabeth Ronbinson was inspired by the Stitched Felt Wallet project Eileen taught in the recent Beach House Art Retreat and kept on stitching! She created a cute felt heart tag with flowers for a pencil case she has. Eileen’s dies cute felt easily and they are a perfect adornment for all sorts of projects. Next we have a colorfully coordinated Notebook from Pam Bray to feast our eyes upon. Wouldn’t this make a great gift for a friend or loved one? The pink and black color scheme is quite striking. Check out Pam’s blog post to find out her quick and easy hack for making the insides of this notebook.

Jenny Marples has two projects to share with us! The first is floral Notebook with coordinating interior. Jenny shows us in a tutorial how to alter the standard Notebook die cut for an alternate way of creating the cover. She also tells you how to created a matching tassel using one of Eileen’s tools.

I love how those colors pop on the grey felt. Eileen showed us some really great embroidery stitches and ways to approach projects like this.

It’s not too late to still catch the fun of the Beach House Art Retreat! The retreat itself happened last Saturday but the private Facebook group is live and all the videos and content are still available. Participants are still chatting and posting their projects! May Flowers Are Blooming

Papercrafting May flowers is definitely a thing! That is our theme here on the blog this month and the Inspiration Team has been sharing some delightfully springy and flowery projects so far. Julia Aston created a delightful gift box with one of Eileen’s retired dies, the Cookie Box. She covered it with flowers and ribbons and filled it with yummy cookies! Who wouldn’t want one as a gift? It’s so pretty! (and tasty!) Julia gives full instructions in her blog post and also shows us how to use the new Sizzix Sculpting Foam for the flowers.

Using various dies from Eileen, Lisa Hoel cut flowers out of wool felt and used them to upcycle some thrift store teacups into pincushions. The dies (both steel rule and thinlits) cut felt beautifully and are a great way to get more use out of your collection. More photos and details can be found on Lisa’s blog post.
