Christmas is Just About Here…

Is it time to panic? I must admit I’m feeling a bit rushed with all the “to do” on my to do list. And there are still Christmas crafting projects I have in my head that I want to make. At least the web is full of crafty inspiration for us, even if we can’t find all the craft time we need for ourselves. (Crafting vicariously? Is that a thing?) It just so happens that we have a load of inspiration right here, right now…

Cue the super awesome Inspiration Team and their crafty goodness!

First we have a delightful December Daily Journal from Tonya Trantham. I love that snowman couple with the retro flair! Check out Tonya’s blog post where she gets real about her daily December life. Plus there is pom-pom trim. You want to see it – seriously.

Secondly, Jenny Marples has created a fabulously marvelous felt embroidered journal. Wow! Head on over to her blog post to read all about the story behind this gorgeous creation.

Anna-Karin Evaldsson did a favorite Eileen Hull projects of 2019 round up for our viewing enjoyment. You will ohh and ah over all her fabulous projects (five of them). My personal favorite is this birch trees journal but the embossed cover notebooks is a close second.

Time for Festive Inspiration!

It’s December! (Seriously? How did that happen?) At any rate, Eileen Hull’s Inspiration Team is still hard at work sharing the festive magic of the season to inspire us all! (and take a look at this beautiful photo Eileen took! I am compelled to include it in this post.)

Eileen shared this winter wonderland photo she took near her Dad’s house. Inspiring indeed!

Now, on to the Festive Inspiration paper craft style!

First we have a royal roundup of some of Mitsyana Wright’s favorite Christmas projects from the past. Wow! These are just perfect for gift giving. Head on over to Mitsyana’s blog to check out all of the details.

Next is Karen Bearse’s continuation of her Christmas Junk Journal creation. We are up to Part 3! She is not kidding when she says this journal is jammed with joy. You will not want to miss her post which is full of technique tips and a video flip through of her progress so far. I for one can’t wait to see what she’ll be up to next with this project.

Holiday Celebrations Continue with Eileen Hull

We are back this week with more festive holiday projects from the Inspiration Team! The beauty of my dies is that they can be adapted for any theme or style. Some of my team made Thanksgiving projects and others created Christmas themed ones. Let’s see…

Celebrate the Holidays Using Sizzix Dies!

Julia Aston has created a perfectly decorated table setting for upcoming Thanksgiving Day. How would you like to sit down to a table with beautiful decorations like this?

Lots of thoughtful touches!

She made holders for the silverware and a napkin with the Gift Card Folder Die and a little treat box with the House Ornament Die. Check out her blog post to see all the detail photos and tutorial.

Susie Bentz’s Bee Journal Blog Takeover!

Susie Bentz continuing with the Inspiration Team Blog Takeover! Eileen is still gadding about “across the pond”, crafting away with lots of new friends, so I am having a go on her blog. Today I am sharing a honey bee themed journal I made for my sister using Eileen’s die from Sizzix!

The Cover:

This project started with a lovely honey bee themed Diamond Art Kit from Leisure Arts. The design is printed on a heavyweight canvas type material and the honey bee area has a coating of strong tacky adhesive. I positioned the fabric on a piece of mat board, centering the bee image and then adhering it with Eileen’s Easy Cut Adhesive Sheets. After placing the fabric side down, so that it was facing the Journal die, I cut it using a Big Shot machine.

Because the Diamond Art kit was intended for a beginner the instructions were very clear and easy to follow – very much like a paint by numbers kit! It was fun and relaxing and I completed the design in a couple of hours.

The shine off of those rhinestones is really eye catching!

At this point I began to alter the background with gesso, stencils, modeling paste and Eileen’s ColorBox Blends inks.

I used Sunshine, Golden and Nutmeg inks, blending and playing until I was happy with the color. Next I sprinkled on Eileen’s Glistening Glass Molten Dimensions from Emerald Creek. I had to be careful with my heat gun because if I got too close to the rhinestones they started to melt!

The Diamond Art Honey Bee is meant to be framed and hung on a wall, not handled on a daily basis. I added a top coat of Mod Podge to protect the design. I chose the Gloss formula because I didn’t want to lose the amazing shine!

Assembly:

For the back of the journal I covered mat board with Gold Rinea Foil paper. I die cut the cover then used Eileen’s Honeycomb Textured Impressions embossing folder. Because the journal cover is longer than the embossing folder I had to run it through a second time. I flipped the folder to the other end of the cover and matched/ overlapped the design.

I used Eileen’s Red Line tape on the spine to hold the cover together.

Here’s a peek at the inside! I stenciled a honeycomb design and strung black elastic to hold the signatures.

Finally I added a dangle of fun beads on the spine!

The Signatures:

There are coordinating signatures on the inside featuring die cut Rinea Foil paper. I actually created an etched glass element for one of the covers! (you can find a quick tutorial HERE)
