Hello friends! I apologize for being a day late and a dollar short with the Art with Heart April Showers Challenge winners post. I’m in the mix of my daughter’s wedding but more on that later. Inspiration Team Tuesday : Sweet Shower Gifts

Hi there! We are coming down the home stretch of the Art with Heart April Showers Challenge. This will be our last Inspiration Team Tuesday before we pick this month’s winner and Top 3 to be announced this Friday April 25th.

Today we have some Sweet Shower Gifts and projects created by Inspiration Team Members and some very special guest designers. Let’s have a look at the inspiring projects being created using my Sizzix dies…

Inspiration Team Member Amy of Plucking Daisies has used my Sizzix Flower dies and embossing folders to create these too cute Mother’s day Photo Flowers! Talk about “showering” Mom with love.

Next we have the lovely Oxana of Scrappylicious sharing this drop-dead gorgeous favor box using my Cake Slice Die! This beautiful Shower favor creation would work for a baby or bridal shower. It would also make a “pretty” fabulous gift box if I do say so myself.

Easter Basket Greetings

Happy Easter!

The first wave of wedding guests have arrived- my daughter Jess, her husband Jason, two sons Daniel and Hunter and pup Walker. We have christened the new kitchen today with a delicious brunch cooked by Jason. Added bonus- he is figuring out how to work the new appliances and showing me- yes!

Here’s a little quick project I made using the Sizzix Basket die from the Picket Fence collection. I die cut the basket from matboard and then embossed the basket sections with the Basketweave and Honeycomb set. I inked it in yellow and shaded with brown, then added green crinkle paper shreds, some felt stickers and a few glitter eggs.

We are off to church and then I will put the ham in the oven and head out to clean the potting shed which I have been putting off…

Inspiration Team Tuesday: Artist Trading Blocks

Hi Everyone! Last week we kicked off the Art with Heart April Showers Challenge. With a new week under way I have more creative projects from the Inspiration Team! It’s Inspiration Team Tuesday…prepare to be inspired!

First up we have the always inspiring Anna-Karin of Layers of Ink sharing a knock your socks off Artist Trading Block Creation!

Stenciled Baby Shoe Centerpiece

My designer friend, Rebekah Meier, has come out with her own line of stencils with The Crafter’s Workshop! She invited me to celebrate their release by being part of a blog hop, which I was very honored to do. Rebekah’s designs are so delicate and beautiful.

I used Rebekah’s Stained Glass and Ring Doily designs to make my project. The die I used was one from my new Cherished collection, Shoe, 3D.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how I made the baby shoe centerpiece… I used my new Clearsnap ColorBox Blends inks to lightly blend Bay, Sunshine, Tutu and Leaf on the inside and outside of the shoe. Then I placed Rebekah’s stencils on top of the shoe pieces and swirled the Nutmeg Blends over the stencil so that the colors come through from behind the stencil negative. I sprayed the back of the stencil with spray adhesive just to make sure things did not shift. You can make the colors as dark or light as you wish by adding layers.

I used my Sizzix Flowers, Layers #9, Flower, Fringed, Leaves, Bloom and Plant Markers and Flower with Heart Petals dies to create the flowers. I also used my new Craffiti stamp set, Animal Crackers, to stamps the sentiment on the stake.

The shoe was laced up with dyed seam binding and I added floral foam to the inside of the shoe with kraft paper crinkles on top of it. Lace was added to the bottom of the shoe.

Love Layout

Head on over to the Sizzix UK blog today to see how to create this layout. You might be surprised to find out which die was used to make the scalloped squares!

There are also some truly beautiful wedding favor boxes created by my new friends Anne Redfern of Redanne and Jenny Marples of Pushing The Right Buttons. They have embraced the ATB and are running with it. The projects, tutorials and photography are outstanding so head on over and check them out!

This layout was set in a 12″ x 12″ white frame but I left out the glass because it is so dimensional.

I am constantly making paper flowers and have a whole box of them. This layout is a great way to use random flowers made from different materials as long as the colors blend together well. I admit there is a lot of pattern going on here, but I like it.
