Featured Fan: Sarah Glinsmann

1 May

I met up with Sarah when I drove through Nebraska on the Paper Trail 3. I was teaching at one of my favorite stores, Imagine That, and Sarah helped me before I even met her.

I had run out of paper shred that I needed to teach with and hadn’t found a store that carried it along the way. Audra, the store owner, asked Sarah if she could hook me up (she works at Wal-Mart) and the next day I received a special delivery of two bags of exactly what I needed!

Sarah took my classes- I could see she was always a step ahead and thinking of other ways she could do things. That is very rewarding as a teacher to see people who are comfortable enough to take risks and try things. Sarah is a very thoughtful creator- combining art with engineering- and I loved seeing what she came up with!

Here’s a pic of Scotty parked in from of Imagine That and our class our front. I had such a fun time in Nebraska and they made me feel so special. I even got an honorary Husker t-shirt!

So here’s what Sarah has to say…

Sarah-Glinsmann

Good Friday morning to all. I started scrapping about 4 years ago. I enjoy doing layouts, but my love is in my “projects”. Whether doing mini albums or other projects, I am always asking “what if”. What if I made it this way instead of that way, or what if you turn it this way or that way. Looking for different ways to utilize what I have. When Eileen’s Papertrail came to Imagine That Scrapbooking last year I was excited to take the classes Eileen was teaching.

Sarah-G-book-

One of them used Sizzix’s “mini album” die, and sure enough I started asking myself “what if”. So I folded the album spine on the top and middle fold to create an offset cover that would allow tabbed pages to show from the front cover.

Sarah-G-book-2

The second class I took used Sizzix’s “square box” die and again, “what if” came to mind.

Sarah-G-carousel-2-top

So I took one strip of the matboard cut from the die and folded it into a triangular shape. Made several of them, connected them together and came up with the idea for a pen and pencil holder/organizer.

I decorated it with Graphic 45’s typography paper line and embellishments. I added a belly band to hold the post-it note pad.

Then another “what if” came to me, could I figure out a way so it would spin?  And it does! I want to thank Eileen for the opportunity to feature a couple of my “projects” and wish everyone a happy National Scrapbooking Day!

Eileen again…

Many thanks to Sarah for agreeing to be featured here! Her work is amazing… Isn’t that caddy something else? Here are the dies that Sarah used if you would like to try your hand…

Have you created some thing unique with my dies? Please contact me at EileenHull@aol.com- I am always looking for cool people and projects to feature here! We all love seeing inspiration.
