A Stitch in Time – Sewing Themes with Eileen Hull Dies

8 Feb

In January we shared our projects for Eileen Hull’s Sizzix Classics Die Release. You will be pleased to hear that we are continuing to use these fabulous dies for our February “A Stitch in Time” theme! The team will be sharing their projects which may include slow stitching and machine stitching but also based around the sewing/stitching theme. We love it when you create along with us, so get out those dies and ideas and have fun! Please share in the Fan Club what you make.

Pam Bray fully embraced the sewing theme with this beautiful quilted pillow created with Eileen’s dies. Pay her blog a visit to see how she incorporated the Embroidery Hoop and Needle Book Dies (plus others) to make this shabby chic home decor piece.

Designer Sarah Lizzie also used the Embroidery Hoop Die as a base for this bright and cheerful Valentine project packed with felt flowers. On her blog, Sarah Lizzie shows how she used another classic flower die of Eileen’s to create these rolled blooms. It’s a great die hack!

Susie Bentz used the Needle Book Die to create a signature for a junk journal she’s working on. What a great idea! I love the little details she’s included. I hope we get to see the finished journal! Find all the details on Susie’s blog.

Eileen Hull Classic Sizzix Dies – New Release!

17 Jan

These Eileen Hull Classic Sizzix Dies are favorites that you asked to be brought back from the vault! Eileen’s Teams have been hard at work creating with these past favorites and have quite a lineup of inspiration for you. (If you missed the live Release Party, WATCH the replay HERE!)

Here is what Eileen has to say about her new collection:

You asked for it – we did it! The Classic Cantilever Sewing Box, Embroidery Hoop and Needle Book dies have been brought back because you asked. These dies all relate to stitching but of course may also be used in other ways. They are all Bigz dies which are so versatile because of the number of materials that may be cut with them.

I have fond memories of my Mom’s wooden sewing box and designed this Cantilever Sewing Box to replicate that. It’s great for storing sewing supplies like needles, thread, buttons, floss and pins- but it also works for hair bands and clips, small storage items, jewelry, desk organization and small treats. Use the drawers separately to organize your desk drawers or create a shadowbox – so many ways to use! Finished size is 3 1/2” x 6 1/4” x 2 1/4”.

The Embroidery Hoop measures 4” and is designed to be cut from thick material such as matboard or chipboard. You can actually tuck thin fabrics in the hoop and stitch on them. Or you can die cut from paper and use the hoop on card fronts. Use the pieces separately or all together.

The Needle Book is also a ScoreBoard die and features a pretty scalloped edge to the book. It measures 3 1/2” x 2 1/4″ x 1/2″ and is perfect for storing your stitching needles and pins – works great when made from felt! But it can also be made from matboard, chipboard, leather or fabric – one of the benefits of the Bigz dies.

Time for a closer look at the designers’ projects…

Jenny Marples took the sewing theme to heart and created a gorgeous set of embroidered and beaded projects. Wow! Aren’t they just beautiful? You can get a closer look on Jenny’s blog so don’t miss that.

Wondering how to assemble the Cantilever Sewing Box? Tonya Trantham has a tutorial for you on her blog! She has some great tips and as always, her shabby chic style is a winner.
