Set of Cute Animal Cards

21 Feb

Pete Hughes is a Sizzix UK designer and he always makes the best projects. He used the set of four cute animal Framelits, the Lion and Monkey Set and the Elephant and Giraffe Set from my brand new Cherished collection to create a set of cards.

Cherished Animal Cards

Today on the Sizzix UK blog, Pete posted a great tutorial on how to create this set. I think the animals are fun icons for anyone- not just babies…

Life has been busy. While I was away in Florida helping my daughter who had a new baby, my darling husband decided to tear up our kitchen floor and sent me a text with a photo of the demo. Whoa…. We had talked about remodeling the kitchen but not till after my daughter’s wedding in April. Well, guess what’s happening- kitchen remodel with a wedding two months away! Tomorrow is a meeting with the kitchen folks- wish us luck…

I am also working on the invitations for the wedding, planning my teaching trip to Massachusetts, and getting the camper ready.  I hope you will follow the #PaperTrail and see what we are up to while we are on the road.

What are all of you guys up to? Anything fun? Let me know in the comments…

Thanks for stopping by!

Flower with Heart Petals Pouch

20 Feb

Check out the super simple bag I made using a pre-made felt pouch, some fleece and my Sizzix Flower with Heart Petals Bigz die! This was meant to be posted for Valentine’s Day but hearts are good any time, right? I am using it right now to store my travel pens (a small set that I take when I am getting the oil changed, etc.).

Baby Food Jar Favor

14 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Guess what my present is… a new grandson!

My daughter Jessica had a baby last Friday. His name is Hunter James and he sure is a cutie pie. I came down to Florida to help out with Daniel (Hunter’s 19 month old big brother), while Jess and Jason were at the hospital. We have been having a great time. The only thing I am missing is the foot of snow in Virginia. It’s tough…

Jess and Hunter

Welcome little one!

Hard to get everyone smiling all at once… oh well two out of four isn’t bad…

dandified with ear hat

Jess had to try one of her handmade hats on him. If you are in need of baby hats and accessories, stop by her Dandified Facebook page and see what she is up to. I order hats for all of my friends’ new grandkids- always a big hit and so unique.

Speaking of babies, my Sizzix Cherished collection is finally shipping! I will be sharing some projects with you in the next few weeks to get your creative juices flowing. I am sure you know someone who is having a baby- maybe it’s you!

Now for even more cuteness…this adorable Baby Food Jar Favor Box! It was created by Amy of Plucking Daisies! Don’t you love it? Great baby shower favor!

She used the Sizzix Food Jar and Spoon to make it. Visit Amy’s blog here for a great tutorial…

Stay tuned for more projects… now I am off to bed because Daniel is an early riser 🙂 Hope you spend the day with those you love…

Valentine’s Banner

3 Feb

At long last the mystery is revealed! I posted some photos on Facebook last week and you all have been busy trying to guess what this project is going to be…

Time to spill the beans- it’s a beautiful Valentine’s Banner swap!

Be-mine-hero-w-text

I was invited to join this project by Roseanne Kermes, and it has been so interesting meeting new friends on line and seeing their projects arrive in the mailbox. It’s also new for me because most of the people in the hop are into fabric, not paper. Some own quilt stores, some are teachers…

So the way it worked was we each were responsible for making six each of the same banner- I had the letter “N”. I designed my version and sent one to everyone in the group, and everyone else did the same. The banner spells out Be Mine. The banner could be made from anything we wanted and it was suggested that fabric be included somewhere. Instructions were given on how to create the triangle shape so all of the pieces were about the same size.

Here’s the list of all of us- go check out everyone’s blogs and see their versions of the banner!

Click here for a Valentine Printable pattern of my banner.

  1. Use a piece of matboard to construct the base (print pattern above). It is about 6″ wide and 8 1/2″ long.
  2. Emboss the bottom part of the triangle using the Rosebuds and Seed Packet Textured Impressions folder, then use ColorBox® Blends Tutu pink to highlight the embossed areas.
  3. Die cut white fleece using Sizzix Doily die. The letter was cut from red felt using the Sizzix Serif Essentials alphabet (the printable letter is slightly different). This set of letters has come in handy more than once!
  4. Fill in the top area with a strip of scrapbook paper to.
  5. Use a Cropadile to punch holes in the top corners for hanging. String the banner together with ribbon, twine or whatever you would like.

Whenever I see this banner, it will remind me of my creative new friends. Have you ever been part of a swap like this? I would love to hear how other people have done it.

Ann Butler Blog Hop with Sizzix Cradle Die

31 Jan

I had so much fun making this project! It brought me back to my childhood days of making doll accessories. I was the oldest of six kids- with four girls in five years. (Mom- what were you thinking?) My sisters and I spent HOURS playing with dolls, making clothes and furniture, sending them on trips, having plays…

One Christmas, Mom made each of our forty dolls a new outfit and arranged them in the living room on all of the furniture and we came in after Christmas Mass to find them. What an amazing present! One doll, Bridie, even had a string of pearls and a blue velvet dress- I loved her…

So I decided to make a cradle from my new Sizzix Cherished collection.  And I used Ann Butler EZ-De’s stamps  and Ann Butler Clearsnap inks to make a doll quilt and pillow! I love the pretty ink colors- and being Clearsnap Crafter’s Ink, the colors are permanent… Having one inch stamps are handy for these small areas. It was so much fun to stamp out a tiny quilt in just a few minutes. Good job Ann!

Make sure you see what all of the designers on the hop have created! I can’t wait to check them out:

Candice Windham

Cindi Bisson

You will need:

  • Sizzix Cradle ScoreBoards die
  • Golden Book and pages to die cut
  • matboard
  • Ann Butler EZ-De’s stamps
  • Ann Butler Clearsnap inks
  • glue gun
  • spray adhesive
  • Fabri-Tac by Beacon
  • white twill material
  • ruffled trim

Die cut two headboards from Golden Books. Cover a piece of matboard front and back with pages from the Golden Books, using spray adhesive to adhere. Die cut crib bed from matboard.

Ann-Butler-blog-hop-crib

Assemble crib using glue gun to secure. This is a job for a heavy duty adhesive, especially if it will be played with! Measure the inside of the crib and cut a piece of white fabric for a blanket. Use another piece for a pillow.

Ann-Butler-blog-hop

Stamp the fabric using different color inks and alternating stamp shapes to make the pattern interesting. Since this was a small project, I used the one inch stamps. I could not find the orange stamp pad anywhere! I can pretty much guarantee it will turn up the minute I finish this post.

Ann-Butler-blog-hop4

Cut two strips of ruffled trim. Turn ends under and sew down or glue. Adhere to the crib with the glue gun.

I put a small piece of batting in the bottom of the crib for a little mattress. Place blanket and pillow inside crib. Add doll and play!

Thanks for stopping by and remember to check out all of the other projects on the hop!
