Valentine’s Banner

3 Feb

At long last the mystery is revealed! I posted some photos on Facebook last week and you all have been busy trying to guess what this project is going to be…

Time to spill the beans- it’s a beautiful Valentine’s Banner swap!

Be-mine-hero-w-text

I was invited to join this project by Roseanne Kermes, and it has been so interesting meeting new friends on line and seeing their projects arrive in the mailbox. It’s also new for me because most of the people in the hop are into fabric, not paper. Some own quilt stores, some are teachers…

So the way it worked was we each were responsible for making six each of the same banner- I had the letter “N”. I designed my version and sent one to everyone in the group, and everyone else did the same. The banner spells out Be Mine. The banner could be made from anything we wanted and it was suggested that fabric be included somewhere. Instructions were given on how to create the triangle shape so all of the pieces were about the same size.

Here’s the list of all of us- go check out everyone’s blogs and see their versions of the banner!

  1. Use a piece of matboard to construct the base (print pattern above). It is about 6″ wide and 8 1/2″ long.
  2. Emboss the bottom part of the triangle using the Rosebuds and Seed Packet Textured Impressions folder, then use ColorBox® Blends Tutu pink to highlight the embossed areas.
  3. Die cut white fleece using Sizzix Doily die. The letter was cut from red felt using the Sizzix Serif Essentials alphabet (the printable letter is slightly different). This set of letters has come in handy more than once!
  4. Fill in the top area with a strip of scrapbook paper to.
  5. Use a Cropadile to punch holes in the top corners for hanging. String the banner together with ribbon, twine or whatever you would like.

Whenever I see this banner, it will remind me of my creative new friends. Have you ever been part of a swap like this? I would love to hear how other people have done it.
