Eileen Hull Notebook Sneak Peeks

16 Apr

This month the Inspiration Team is sharing their Eileen Hull Notebook Sneak Peeks with us! This is a new Sizzix die that has just been released. If you like to create quick and easy books, the Notebook might just be the die for you!

Bigz L Notebook

The Notebook is a handy little size. It measures about 3 1/2″ x 5″ x 3/4″- the perfect for tucking in your bag for notes or lists! This is a ScoreBoards die specially designed  to cut and score thick material like matboard and chipboard up to 1/16″. The spine is built in and has an adjustable width which will hold one or two signatures. Another option is to die cut from paper, fold in half to create a nice card base. What I like best about this die is that you can cut a book cover in one pass through the die cut machine! Boom!

Ready for some samples from the amazing Inspiration Team?

Sneak Peeks

Who doesn’t love coffee? Check out Pam Bray‘s adorable Whole Latte of Love  Notebook featuring her very own Emerald Creek Craft Supplies Coffee Sentiments rubber stamp designs!

Pam was busy! She also created this beautiful Moments Notebook featuring some gorgeous papers from Stamperia and soft May Arts ribbons.

Any Game of Thrones fans out there? Take a look at the epic set of  Notebooks from Karen Bearse! She created the books to go with the fantastic Dragon Treasure Box she shared with us last month… so cool!

Tonya Trantham has a cool Boho vibe that comes out in this fifties lady who is rocking this Just Fabulous Notebook! She used the Trinket Box frame to put her front and center, then added some Waffle texture and Blends inks for pretty color.

Spring Things with Eileen Hull Inspiration Team

17 Mar

It was 70 degrees here this week in sunny Virginia and that means it’s time to see some Spring Things from the Eileen Hull Inspiration Team!

Spring Things with Eileen Hull Inspiration Team

Julia Aston sets a gorgeous table! Check out the adorable place cards/treat boxes she made for Easter here. The dies she combined to create this project were the Place Card and Stacking Drawer.

TIP

One of the good things about ScoreBoards dies is that you can mix and match the pieces to make something totally different than what the die was meant for. Don’t be limited by what the picture on the die looks like. Think outside the box and do some experimenting like Julia did above. So cute!

Lisa Hoel made an out-of-this-world Space Adventure in a Box  complete with aliens! There are so many amazing techniques and unusual materials that she used to make it in addition to the Stacking Drawers and Treasure Box. Make sure to head over to her blog to see how she did it all.

Anna-Karin Evaldsson made this DIY Watercolor Birds Pen Holder using the Treasure Box and Stacking Drawers dies. I love her pretty watercolor birds! And do you put your pencils in tip up or tip down? Can you mention in the comments?

I hope that you enjoyed seeing all of these Spring Things with Eileen Hull Inspiration Team- I know I did, as always!

The Sizzix die that we all created with was the Wrapped Journal, part of my Book Club Chapter Two collection. The great thing about this die is that it will cut and score thick material like matboard and chipboard, to create a nice sturdy book- a blank canvas that you can imprint with your own style and choice of materials and mediums. There are a multitude of ways this die can be used and so many materials you can cut -pretty much anything you can cut with scissors.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the earthy tones of my potting shed for this project and took my photos of my Journal in it.

These are the products I used…

to make this!

The paint color I used was called Mud Splat by Paper Artsy Seth Apter. I liked how was translucent it was. When I painted the Journal and overlapped the strokes, it reminded me of wood- so cool!. I used the Sizzix Journaling Cards- Flowers and Leaves die cut from a piece of Superstock with ThermOWeb Easy Cut Sheets on the front to create the focal image.

I removed the release sheet from three of the flowers and put Chunky Rust, peeled off another few flowers and added Fractured Ice and finished off with Oil Rubbed Bronze for the rest of the flowers. I then heated the powders with my heat tool. Finally I peeled the last layer of adhesive off and added Fresh Fallen Snow then heated again. I have always used ink to secure the embossing powder so using the ThermOWeb Easy Cut Sheets was an experiment that worked out fine! I think the edges of the flowers were better defined using this method.

Usually I use 1 mm. elastic cord to bind my books, but this time I used hair elastics. I cut slits in the binding holes to the edge of the book. I didn’t have to tie anything, just slipped the elastics around the cover of the book and into the holes. A shout out to Russell from Neu Scrapbooking who gave me the idea! To finish off the cover panel, I added Emerald Creek brads to the centers of some of the flowers.

The insert books were made using mini-composition books found in the Dollar Tree. I covered the outer covers with old dictionary pages and colored them with my Clearsnap ColorBox Blends inks. I also used some of my new Sizzix Journaling Words dies. To finish it off, I added Emerald Creek brads to some of the flower centers.

To add inserts to the book, open to the center pages and slip the book into the elastic binding so the cord is in the middle of the book and holding it together.

I made tabs from folded over book pages and added them to the side for a pen holder. Because what good is a journal without a pen?

I need to clean my shed and get all those leaves out of there!

Thanks so much for hopping along on the Get Wrapped Blog Hop with us. Don’t forget to leave a comment so you have a chance to win the giveaway!
