Sizzix Projects by Jenn White

19 Feb

I am happy to share a Sizzix Train Case by Jenn White this week! I met Jenn on the Paper Trail 7 this past October when I taught at a Scrapbook ‘N Memories retreat.

I had never taught at a retreat before and loved that I was able to spend time actually hanging out  and getting to know people a little, instead of packing up and leaving for the next stop as I normally do.  Every year, Kourtney, the store owner, does a recycled challenge- so we made 3D trailers using leftover chipboard that she had saved from paper packs, the Sizzix Trailer die and Little B washi tape. Click here to see a quick video!

Everyone went to town creating, they had the next day to finish and turn them in, and then there was voting for the best project. On the last night a prize was given to the winner. You would not believe these trailers! I was amazed at all of the really cool ideas that everyone had, but the winner’s was really special- and that winner was Jenn!

Here’s a little background on Jenn- she is quite the Renaissance woman!

I live in Harrisonville Missouri was born and raised in Kansas City Missouri. Most everyone in my family is a professional or hobby artist. We all have many various artistic gifts and hobbies. We do not ever use the word “Can’t”. Raised to do our best and try our best no matter what the task. Most all of us have our own shops, stores, businesses, studios and galleries. Everything you can think of and then some. My mother and her sisters and their mother, my Granny Bea, all DESIGNED AND SEWED everything and anything they ever needed for themselves, their homes and their children. They grew, raised, canned and cooked all their own food too and everything was made from scratch. Very rare to have anything store bought. They taught me most everything. My dad is a steel and stained glass artist. His granny was an amazing hand quilter. My cousins and I were in 4H and I remember entering my cooking, sewing, decor and crafting projects in the 4H fair and the county fair. I come from a DIY family. I love any and all arts and find it all very therapeutic but I must have creative freedom and it cannot be forced. When I take classes I do not want what I am making to look exactly like everyone elses. I want it to be to my taste and style. I am easily distracted and all over the place depending on what I am thinking and dreaming about, looking at and what inspires me throughout the day. In the same day I may create a steampunk clock, decorate a hat, sew a curtain, make a necklace, do an assemblage collage, gesso canvases, change the buttons on a jacket, work on an art journal spread, make a Birthday card, paint a scene backdrop for a play, put together a quick mini album, hem an evening gown, arrange a bouquet of flowers, make a gorgeous gift box, work on copper foiling a stained glass piece, stamp business cards, landscape the yard then cut color and style someone’s hair…You never know, every day is different. The trick to having more cre8time I have discovered is to never turn on the TV & set a timer if you get on social media. haha…
