And now for my project… Photo Memory Hoops!

Finally- my new Sizzix Stitchlits collection will be available this month in your local scrapbook stores! Here’s one of the dies that I am really excited about- the 4″ Embroidery Hoop die.660766-Embroidery-HoopI can think of so many ways to use this hoop… but the first thing that came to mind was to make Memory Hoops with family photos that my daughter Jess (Jessica Veara Photography) took this summer when all of the grandkids were together. I can’t think of a more special gift. I am making a set for my mom and of course a set for me!

You will need:

  • 660425  Big Shot Machine
  • 660766  Sizzix Bigz Die – Embroidery Hoop
  • 656492  Little Sizzles Matboard- Cream
  • Clearsnap ColorBox Blends Inks by Eileen Hull- Nutmeg, Golden
  • canvas paper
  • silver or gold marker
  • Therm O Web Adhesive Sheets
  • photos cropped to 3 3/4″ circle
  1. Print photos in color on canvas paper.1MemoryHooppic-eileenhull.com
  2. Die cut three hoops from matboard. 2MemoryHoopmat-eileenhull.com.JPGStamp Woodgrain image on hoops in using ColorBox Blends Nutmeg, then add Golden over Nutmeg to create the background color. To see a video on these inks, go here.3MemoryHoopink-eileenhull.com.JPG5MemoryHoopgold-eileenhull.comOnce you have inked everything in the three colors, pop out each individual hoop and ink all edges with the Nutmeg Blends applicator. This adds lots of dimension and is it’s so quick and easy with the sponge applicator. Photo below shows Before and After!

  3. Die cut three hoops from Adhesive Sheets. Peel release paper from one side and adhere to solid matboard die cut circle. Remove release paper from other side. Place photo trimmed to 4″ circle face down on the table and center matboard circle (adhesive side down) on photo. Trim excess paper from edges of matboard photo. Place images inside the hoops.6MemoryHoopCT-eileenhull.com
  4. Use a silver or gold pen to color the hoop hardware.
  5. Give to all your family members (especially grandparents)- they will adore them!

Love this gift idea! What a terrific gift for family members. I will be making gifts for my husband and two daughters this year. Handmade gifts are a favorite family tradition for us. For the girls, I am working on altered printer’s trays, with a Christmas theme. I will be sewing for my husband. Shhh!
