Halloween Popcorn Box Challenge

31 Oct

I am soooo late to the party… but didn’t want to disappoint my friend and fellow Sizzix designer Laura Kelly who is hosting her annual Halloween Popcorn Box Challenge. She sends (or gives) a popcorn box to her blogger friends and has them create with it. Go here to see all of this years entries! She also has a great giveaway going on so make sure you enter!

Laura handed me this popcorn box when I saw her in Colorado along the Paper Trail. I just found it- unloading Scotty has taken me days! Everything is piled up on my washer and dryer and surrounding areas so I suppose eventually things will have to go back to their assigned home. My son and daughter have offered for my birthday present to help me re-arrange the basement studio. Does that give you a hint of the disaster down here?

To make the popcorn box, I first painted it with black acrylic paint. Then I selected one of my favorite Stencil Girl stencils and placed that on top of the box. With my ColorBox Blends Flagstone ink, I dabbed gray paint through the stencil. Then sprinkled silver embossing powder on top and gave it the old heat gun.

Next I added tissue paper ruffles using my Sizzix Pleated Ruffle die to cut and score. I used ThermoWeb iCraft double stick tape to adhere the ruffle to the inside of the box. I cut a label from MD Hobby and Craft metal sheet and rubbed some more black paint into the crevices and then wiped it off.

I finished it off with a bright green ribbon and adhered the tag under the ribbon with a Zot.

Can you guess how long this is going to last now that the pictures have been taken?
