St. Patrick’s Day Artist Trading Block

11 Mar

With a name like Eileen, I suppose you can guess I am Irish. So to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, I created an Artist Trading Block using Craft Attitude, the Sizzix Block/Cube/Bank die and artwork I found over at The Graphics Fairy.

Craft Attitude works really well on my Sizzix boxes and books. It looks like the artwork is printed right on the matboard which totally baffles people- I love that! My seven year old granddaughter Trinity made a video showing how she had fun with it here.

Craft Attitude is quick and easy to work with. There are many different kinds of “Attitude” (Flower, Shoe, Jewelry, Wood, Magnet, etc) but they all work the same. Just print out whatever image you like on your ink jet printer on to the Craft Attitude film. Cut out the images that you need for your project. Then take a glue stick and rub over the glossy side of the film. Place the Craft Attitude right over the object and press down. Remove the paper backing and burnish image, smoothing out air bubbles as you go. And that is it my friends!

So simple and such impressive results! One of the things I really like about this product is that it conforms to the surface of the material it is placed on for a nice textured look I am thinking next time I will try it over burlap! There are so many ways to use this…

You will need:

Craft Attitude
Sizzix ScoreBoards XL Die – Block/Cube/Bank, 3-D
Sizzix Bigz Die – Flower Layers w/Heart Petals
Sizzix Little Sizzles – 6″ x 13″ Mat Board Pack, 6 White Sheets
gold glitter glue, double sided tape, gold marker, glue stick, gold pipe cleaners, white cardstock

supplies

Lay out your artwork in a photo editing program. Before you print, remember to reverse the image! The block that I am using measures 3″ square, so I sized all of the art to fit. Cut out square images.

Die cut Artist Trading Block from two pieces of matboard. Figure out where you want each image to appear when you have folded up the box.

With a glue stick, apply glue to each square of the matboard, then place image glossy side down on square. Peel off backing paper and smooth film over block.

Repeat for all sides of the block. Place Lady with Hat art over a piece of cardstock.

Glue art to paper and remove backing. Leave a 2″ tab of paper below the image. Trim to 2 7/8″ wide.

With a gold marker, edge the sides of the blocks and the inside edges of each square, and around the edges of the Lady with Hat.

Die cut 12 green clover shapes from Flower with Heart Petals die. Thread 2-3 on each gold pipe cleaner.

Assemble box using double sided tape, tucking in all of the flaps and leaving the top opening untaped.

Slip Lady with Hat and gold stems through closed box lid.
