At CHA this summer, Karen Burniston, Sizzix pop-up genius, gave me one of her latest dies, the Pop-Up Bat. I am ashamed to say that it sat on my shelf for some time. I decided it was time to see what these pop-up dies were all about. Surprise, surprise… they are FUN! The directions were super easy and it came together quickly. I love how my little bat fits perfectly in the ScoreBoard Memo Holder. Pop-up books were my favorite growing up. Wouldn’t this be a fun card to send to a little kid?

I just followed the directions for creating the bat- cut it from black cardstock and assembled as directed. Then I cut a memo holder from orange black core matboard. I love this matboard because both sides of the board are already colored. It just takes a minute to run an inkpad along the edges, if you want them distressed. Some days I like to leave everything clean- it depends on my mood 🙂

The bat was taped into the fold of the memo holder, then I added some bat stickers I had on hand. A string was drawn for the spider to hang on and I did ink the edges of the folder in black. On the front, I printed “beware” on the computer and added that to the memo holder cover. The folder is held closed by a hair elastic and some bright buttons by Blumenthal Lansing. They have a cool new site, by the way, that you might want to check out.

Better get this done soon and in the mail- Halloween is just a week away!

Here’s a bookmark made from my favorite material. This was especially fun to work with because it is a color core matboard. If you did a bevel cut, instead of the regular white core, you would have orange. Love this black and orange combo! I used some sheet music to die cut an H for Halloween, added a rub-on pumpkin up top and wrote my message in a glittery copper metallic pen by Sakura. I tied 2 Halloween-y buttons to ribbon and that was it. Quick and fun gift idea…

Time for another Halloween project! This fun necklace was made from a piece of black matboard cut from the Sizzix Scalloped Circle die. I added some silver Stickles to write the word “Boo” and filled the middles of the letters with orange paint. I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes at the bottom of the pendant and glued on a scalloped book page at the bottom which was inked with orange. A tiny white ghost went on top of the triangle. I added an orange eyelet and a jump ring to attach the pendant to the chain. So spooky!
