Easy Notepad

22 Nov

There’s a nip in the air and I am sorry to say my crafting mojo has just skipped right over Thanksgiving and on to Christmas- I blame it on the stores that put out Christmas stuff the day after Halloween.

Last night I was re-organizing. It’s amazing how much stuff came out of that tiny little camper after the Paper Trail trip and now has to be assimilated back in the studio. So while I was putting things away, I found a bunch of these little memo pads I had gotten at the Christmas Tree Shop a while ago. Since they were 3″ square, I wondered if the Sizzix Square Box die would work as a little folder to wrap the pad with because it is a 3 1/4″ square. I actually tried the 3″ Block but it was a little tight.

At this time of year I am always looking for little handmade gifts. This Easy Notepad goes together so quickly and is perfect if you want to assembly line them and make a bunch at one time. And how handy that you can use a die you already have to make something other than what it was intended for!

Supplies:

  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • #658058  Square Box die
  • Extended Cutting Pads
  • craft knife
  • metal ruler
  • chipboard
  • notepad
  • washi tape
  • ribbon
  1. Die cut one strip from the Square Box die.DSCN5846
  2. Fold over the middle two score lines.fold-score-lines
  3. Place the note pad inside the middle square. Fold up both end squares. Measure and mark the height of the pad on the side of the remaining squares. Using a metal ruler, score lightly over the marks, creating two more sides to the notepad.
  4. Add washi tape to the front of the folder and trim edges off.washi-tape
  5. Wrap the folder up with ribbon. Embellish as desired!

Want to see a fun video I made? It only took me A. WHOLE. DAY! Hope you like it 🙂 When will I ever get better at this?

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh thanks Anne- I keep thinking it will get easier but alas it does not. Think I have to make some more and get in the habit. You totally could make a great video, especially with your accent which I would kill for 🙂
